What is Trip.com
Trip.com Group was founded in 1999 in Shanghai as Ctrip by James Liang, Ji Qi, Neil Shen and Min Fan, and listed on Nasdaq in 2003 (TCOM), later dual-listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2021 (9961). The group has grown into one of the world's largest travel platforms, owning Ctrip, Qunar, Trip.com and Skyscanner (acquired in 2016), and serving over 400 million members across roughly 1.2 million hotels and 2 million flight routes worldwide.
Worth knowing: in January 2026, China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) opened an antitrust investigation into Trip.com Group under the country's Anti-Monopoly Law. The investigation concluded that the company had imposed unreasonable exclusivity terms on hotel partners and improperly deducted security deposits from them. SAMR ordered Trip.com Group to refund RMB122 million (about $18 million) in wrongly deducted hotel deposits, and confiscated RMB1,658 million (about $244.4 million) in gains tied to the violations, alongside an additional fine. Trip.com Group said it would cooperate fully. This action concerned Trip.com's dealings with hotel business partners specifically, not its consumer-facing discount programs.

Worth knowing before you book
Worth knowing
It's not one single, universal promise — it works differently by product, so here's what actually applies.
Once your ticket is paid for, Trip.com guarantees the price won't change. If the ticket isn't issued due to Trip.com's fault and the price has gone up, Trip.com covers the difference.
If you find a lower price for the exact same room, dates, bed type, breakfast and cancellation policy on an eligible platform, you can claim the difference back — paid as Trip Coins, not a cash refund. Claims must be submitted before 12:00 noon the day before check-in.
Trip.com doesn't offer one blanket price-match policy across every booking — coverage and conditions vary by product and are handled case by case. Read the specific terms for flights or hotels before assuming a price drop will be covered.
Based on Trip.com's own published Customer Service Guarantee and Price Match policy pages. Terms can change — confirm current conditions directly on Trip.com before booking.

No — treat it as a ceiling, not a guarantee. Trip.com runs many rotating promotions with different discount levels by category, route and season; up to 60% off reflects the upper end of what's currently available, not a flat rate applied to every booking.
